  Peter Paul Rubens,  Elevation of the Cross , from Saint Walburga, 1610, oil on wood, center panel: 15 feet 1-7/8 inches x 11 feet 1-1/2 inches (now in Antwerp Cathedral) Baroque Art Work, Grand Master Piece of Baroque Elevation of the Cross                 This is a magnificent, huge, beautiful work   of art.   The Elevation of the Cross, shows the painting of our Lord Jesus Christ being crucified on a cross.  This grand painting was painted by a Flemish painter, Peter Paul Rubens  in 1610. The painting  is 15 feet high and 21 feet wide. It was painted with oil on wood, it has two outer wings one on both sides. These also have a grand painting of saints on the left side and a painting of Christians being persecuted on the right side. It is a very powerful painting which contains  great detail. This huge painting  once had an original, beautiful frame but it has since then disappeared....

He painted this grand panting, he used oil and canvas.      He gave this painting to the church of SS. Pietroe Paolo in Messina, Siclily in 1609. He passed away the following year. The colors of this painting is in good condition. There are no smudges and discolor on it.      I am impressed and elated that this beautiful painting of, "Christ resurrecting Lazarus" and many other painting survived to this day.   This is a grand moose hide beaded alter cloth, it was mostly sewn my my sister and myself. There were many others who also sewn this great piece of art. I drew it out the design on the moose hide. The flowers are all sewn with beads, the large beaded flowers are four inches wide. The colors are mainly purple, blue, red, green and brown. The beaded colors and shape that is used here are the patterns of our grandmothers.  The sides are sewn with dentalium shells and porcupine quills.  The bottom white fringes are caribou hide. The back side of the alter cloth is cover with canvas.  The middle has the beaded sign of Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end. The doves represent the God. The beaded flowers represent the rich Athabaskan beaded art work and the beauty of heaven. The beaded writing is written, Deeneek'egwaadhat Jesus Christ, in the Gwich'in Athabaskan language.                                                  Athabascan bone tool to tan moose hide                                                   Nehtthah-bone tanning tool I love this moose leg bone  tool that once belong to my late grandmother, she used this bone tool to tan her beautiful caribou and moose hides. This is an art within itself.  This tool is from the lower leg of a moose. It is a strong leg bone. The cloth upper cloth is wrapped around grandma's wrist and the lower cloth is for her to hold it as she remove the extra meat and fur off the moose hide.
